Terms & Conditions

The Hirer agrees to hire the specified bicycle and accessories (together, “equipment”), to pay the cost of hire, and accept the terms on this form

These terms and conditions form the contract between Volty Bikes Ltd ("Us", "We") and the Hirer ("You")

Payment and Security Deposit

All rentals are payable in advance, and in full. Volty Bikes Ltd accepts payment by credit card, debit card online/phone/in-person) or cash. Additionally, the Hirer will be required to provide credit card details when hiring from Volty Bikes Ltd against which a pre-advised Security Deposit shall be applied before hire commences and shall be cancelled upon return of the equipment, subject to the following terms:

• The deposit is to be held against any loss, theft, damage or failure to return the equipment by the specified time and date
• If equipment is not returned by the specified time and date, the cost of hire shall be charged on a pro rata basis until it is returned the Hirer shall pay any such costs in excess of the deposit
• The Hirer will be held fully financially liable for any loss, theft or damage to all bikes and accessories (including damage due to excessive water, dirt, sand or being left in direct sun)
• Repairs or replacements will be charged at the full market value. Any inner tubes used cost €7 each.

• Equipment must not to be used for commercial purposes or financial gain
• Documents to be presented by the Hirer upon delivery include
  1. Valid Passport/ID Card
  2. Driving Licence
  3. Credit Card
• We reserve the right not to accept or to fulfil a booking
• Volty Bikes Ltd do not provide insurance. It is the Hirer’s responsibility to obtain insurance - https://www .yellowjersey.co.uk are a UK based bicycle insurance company who may be able to help (UK residents only)
• In case of loss or theft, the Hirer pays full replacement cost of the bike

Collection & Delivery

• Equipment booked and paid for in advance will be available for delivery at the pre-arranged time and location as agreed at the time of booking.
• The Hirer agrees to be available at the pre-arranged time and location for delivery and collection.

Cancellation & Refunds

• If, for any unforeseen reason, delivery by Volty Bikes Ltd of any item(s) of equipment ordered is not possible then a full refund will be given or an equivalent item offered as replacement.
• Should the Hirer not be available at the agreed time and location within 15 minutes for delivery - and without prior notice - Volty Bikes Ltd reserves the right to cancel the order and no refund will be given
• A minimum of 24 hours’ notice must be given for cancellation of an advance booking by email or telephone, otherwise payment will be taken in full.

Late Returns / Early Returns

• Unless previously agreed with Volty Bikes Ltd, all bikes and accessories must be ready for collection within the specified hire period.
• A charge for late return will be applied on a pro-rata basis.
• No full or partial refunds will be given for early return or cancellation during the period of hire of bikes or accessories under any circumstances, including adverse weather conditions.

Safety and Security

• The Hirer accepts complete responsibility during the period of hire for the safe custody of the equipment and for any loss, theft or damage (however caused).
• Hirer is responsible for the security of the bicycle and must lock it to a fixed object whenever unattended and keep the equipment​ safeguarded at all times.
• Any loss, theft, damage or accident should be notified to the hire company immediately and, in the case of theft or accident, also to the nearest police station.
• An alarm fob and lock are provided. The Hirer accepts all responsibility for the care and use of the Alarm fob. A charge may be made for any alarm fob not returned.
• The padlock pin can be changed to your desired pin number.
• The Hirer is responsible for maintaining the equipment in a satisfactory and safe condition and fit for purpose.
• All electric cycle users must be a minimum of 14 years old. It is against the law to operate an electric bike below this age.
• All children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Cycling Manner and Safe Practice

• Please cycle sensibly, with respect for others and the natural habitat.
• Bikes hired from Volty Bikes Ltd are suitable for use on road and cycle paths only. If you would like to ride on any particular trail please ask and we can advise if our Bikes are suitable.
• The hirer must also be aware there is a ban here in Cyprus on cycles riding on the pavement or coastal promenades.
• Electric bikes must not be submerged in water. Cycling in the rain is fine but streams, rivers or deep puddles must be avoided.
• As Hirer, you accept that cycling has risks and confirm that you are a competent cyclist.
• You should not ride if you are in ill health, have a disability likely to affect your ability to cycle, or your eyesight is not up to the standard required by a road driving test. Do not ride under the influence of alcohol, strong medication or other drugs.
• Cyprus Ministry of Transport requires all Cyclists to wear a Helmet, also required in reduced light and dark is a High Vision Vest.
• Front and rear lights are required in hours of reduced light.
• Follow the highway code.
• Do not ride on pavements, against traffic, or more than two abreast.
• Do not run red lights. Be courteous to pedestrians and other road users.
• Ride responsibly: do not attempt any manoeuvres beyond your skill level or the bike’s specific capabilities.
• You accept full responsibility if you ignore any of the above and Volty Bikes Ltd will not be held liable for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property that results.
• Volty Bikes Ltd liability to you ,whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise is limited to the cost of hire.
• You agree to indemnify Volty Bikes Ltd against any liabilities, costs, expenses, damages and losses arising out of or in connection with the death or injury to any person or any damage to property resulting from your hire or use of the equipment.
• We advise that you do not ride without personal and third-party liability insurance.
